She keeps Gen as her BloodSlave for several years and promotes her to a vampire. . Virel took part in murdering Braedens parents, but felt no remorse. She meets Millicent several years later and they are very close (some would say too close). She dispatches Millicent with 2 other BloodSlaves to find Kerrian, but Milly is killed by Braeden. Virel becomes enraged and swears revenge upon him. She defects herself from the coven and goes out into ‘The Ward’ (where the Dregs live) she earns the trust of one of the other female vampires and becomes the leader of the Dregs, making them an irrefutable offer: ‘Find Braeden, and I will give you access to the Tower.’ She breaks the Dregs inside and searches for Braeden. She finds him and Lorenzo on the roof of the building, and fights them. She manages to kill Lorenzo and later battles Braeden at the high school, but is unexpectedly killed by Id Kerrian.
